Mr. Stipanov joined Element Capital in 2009 as a product specialist focusing on global macro rates strategies. In this role, he was responsible for identifying investment opportunities, structuring and executing trades, and building relative value analytics. Mr. Stipanov was promoted to Head of Risk Management in 2010, Principal in 2011, and Deputy Chief Investment Officer in 2024. As Deputy CIO and Chief Risk Officer, his primary responsibilities include oversight of the portfolio construction and risk management functions as well as the modeling and technology efforts.

Prior to joining Element Capital, Mr. Stipanov worked as Vice President in Interest Rate Strategy at Morgan Stanley with a primary focus on macro and RV trade ideas in US interest rate derivatives. He also did considerable work in cash interest rate products and in other G7 currencies, including the development of a novel technique for modeling volatility returns that was awarded a US patent.

Mr. Stipanov received an MBA with honors in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Palmer Scholar. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.S.E. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Duke University, where he was awarded the Gerard Sherrerd III Memorial award as the top graduating student in his department.
